Ottershaw Christ Church C of E Junior School
Fletcher Road Ottershaw Surrey KT16 0JY
We have a single Local Governing Committee appointed by The Good Shepherd Trust. It is responsible for both Ottershaw C of E Infant and Junior schools. We provide a supporting role for the school community, staff and children. Working with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, we are collectively responsible for the continuing development of the schools. Our aim is to promote high standards of educational achievement, whilst ensuring that our Christian ethos underpins a nurturing environment where each child is supported to achieve everything they are capable of.
As a Local Governing Committee we have legal responsibilities, as delegated by The Good Shepherd Trust, that we must fulfil and further information regarding these can be found on The Good Shepherd Trust website. We fulfil a strategic role, acting as a critical friend to the school and are accountable for standards. We are not responsible for the day to day running of the school. We work closely with the Head Teacher and the Senior Leadership Team to set aims and objectives, agree, monitor and review policies, targets and priorities.
As Voluntary Controlled schools, the make-up of the Governing Body includes governors from different parts of the community:
We are all volunteers and as a team, find it a very rewarding experience to work together to ensure that we deliver the very best education for all children at our schools. We strive to demonstrate continued improvement and to ultimately become ‘Outstanding’ schools.
You will find a brief introduction to each member of the ’Governor team’ here. We would very much welcome your feedback or comments and would invite you to contact us in the first instance, via our email address mailto:Governors@ottershawcofeschools.surrey.sch.uk and we will ensure that the right person then deals with your message.
The Local Governing Committee meets 6 times a year.
